About General Pathology
In the general course of pathology, students learn about the causes of disease and the resulting changes in the body at the tissue and cellular level. This course provides essential basic knowledge for understanding disease mechanisms and studying clinical medicine. Specifically, students learn about cell damage and repair, cardiovascular diseases, inflammation and immune responses, tumor development and growth, hereditary diseases, and more.
Clinicopathological Conference
A clinicopathological Conference (CPC) is a forum where doctors, pathologists, and other medical professionals from various medical departments gather to discuss actual cases from the perspective of each specialist. The CPC lectures are a simulated experience of this. We strive to understand the pathology of a case by comprehensively considering the case's history, symptoms, various test findings, and histopathological findings. We mainly consider autopsy cases where the entire history is known.
Pathology training
In the pathology training, students will actually observe pathological specimens, deepen the knowledge they have learned in the general pathology course, and act as a bridge between pathology knowledge and clinical practice. Students will observe lesions with the naked eye and tissues under a microscope (WSI; whole slide images can also be used), learning the specific changes that occur when a disease occurs.
Compulsory and elective BSL
Pathological diagnosis plays a very important role in diagnosing diseases. Through practical training in pathological diagnosis, students will learn about the process that pathological diagnosis is carried out.
Both compulsory and elective BSL courses culminate with a presentation session in which students clearly explain the facts gained from a case or what they have learned from their own research on a particular topic.
